One of the most fun parts of the day is taking DC bridal party pictures! My clients love to include their friends and family members in the bridal party, so it's important to ensure we get some great photographs of each couple with their bridal party.
Bridal parties are a time honored tradition, and although not every client chooses to have bridesmaids and groomsmen take part in their wedding day, most have at least a best man and maid of honor to stand up for them and sign off on the marriage license as witness!
In this case, my clients had a pretty sizable bridal party. The bridesmaids wore beautiful blue dresses, with the maid of honor wearing a slightly different shade of blue to distinguish her place!
The groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos with bow ties. The groom wore the same, so it was a very sharp looking bridal party, very photo-ready!
I tend to prefer a boy-girl posed grouping than placing bridesmaids on one side and groomsmen on the other. Especially in recent years, many of the people in the bridal party may be friends with the bride OR the groom, and it seems unfair to assume that brides only include women and grooms only men. So for me, mixing up the group is more fun and progressive than segregating them by sex.
I always like to take at least one full bridal party picture at the wedding, but often the couple allows time for us to take bridal party portraits in more than one location.
In this case, we were outside of the Hay Adams where the couple had their wedding reception, and I took some great photographs of the bridal party on this fall day!
