This DC Greek Orthodox wedding by egomedia photography took place on a gorgeous day in May. Greek Orthodox weddings are so beautiful! Greek Orthodox churches are known for their beautiful colors and imagery.
DC Greek Orthodox ceremonies are lovely, and my favorite part is when the bride and groom take their first steps as husband and wife, after exchanging crowns.
DC Greek Orthodox weddings often have longer than average ceremonies, but it's easy to make time for couple and family portraits if you plan ahead!
If you're planning to have a longer ceremony, one option is to see each other in advance of the ceremony for portraits. Depending upon the time of day, a first look and wedding portraits before your Greek Orthodox ceremony can be a great way to ensure you have more time to enjoy with friends and family at your reception.
If you don't wish to see each other prior to the ceremony, another option is to create some time between the end of your ceremony and the start of cocktail hour.
As with Catholic weddings, some DC Greek Orthodox weddings build in a 2 hour break between the end of the ceremony and the beginning of the cocktail hour. This break allows you to take both couple and family photographs without missing a moment of your cocktail hour and reception! It also takes the pressure off your photographer, because we have more time for creative ideas and the opportunity to get detail photos and photographs during your cocktail hour!
